Manchester City MEN

City keep eye on title rivals

MARK Hughes has predicted the winner of tomorrow's Chelsea v United showdown and it is City!

The Blues boss and his team will be taking a keen interest in the outcome of the clash at Stamford Bridge, as whatever the result, they can cash in - as long as Burnley are seen off today.

Hughes can't wait for Robinho return

MARK Hughes has admitted that City have missed the "quality" of Robinho.

The Blues are hoping to have the Brazil ace back for the November 28 home clash against Hull, which would mean he has missed over three months of the season.

Chelsea - City can't compete

CHELSEA have told City – You can’t compete with us! The Londoners have had their FIFA imposed transfer ban suspended by the Court of Arbitration for Sport and are once again ready to challenge City's spending power.

And in a dig at Sheikh Mansour's Eastlands revolution, new Chelsea chief executive, Ron Gourlay, has questioned whether City will ever become a global force.

Hughes bored of draws

MARK Hughes has told his City players to start turning draws into wins - to ensure they avoid setting an unwanted club record. Hughes' men have become the top flight's draw specialists after chalking up four successive league stalemates.

They are only two more away from equalling the club record of six straight league draws, set in 1913. But the manager is confident that his side will get back to winning ways without becoming City's all-time deadlock kings.

Warning for City kids

TYRONE Mears knows as well as anyone just how prolific City's Academy set-up has been over the last 11 years.

And he is every bit as aware that there could be more Platt Lane graduates in Burnley's starting line-up than City's tomorrow. The Blues' much-praised youth set-up has produced 27 players for the first team since its creation in 1998.

Dave Whelan column: City will win nothing

SORRY, City, I do feel you're going to finish the season empty-handed. I greatly admire the City boss Mark Hughes - he's working extremely hard and he's rebuilding - but it looks as if the City fans must wait at least another year before they're celebrating seeing their team win some silverware.

City have to be admired, they're a fine club and they are heading in the right direction, but I just feel they still don't have the quality to be genuine title contenders.

City offer troops cut-price tickets

CUT-price tickets are being offered by City for serving soldiers on leave. The move comes amid the row over Premier League clubs displaying poppies on their shirts to show their support in the run-up to Remembrance Day.

Last night Bolton caved in to mounting pressure and announced they will wear an embroidered poppy for the game at Aston Villa tomorrow.

Mixed injury news for Hughes

EMMANUEL Adebayor is set to return to the side for Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash at home to Burnley after missing the goalless draw at Birmingham four days ago with an ankle injury.

Club skipper Kolo Toure also seems set to face the Clarets, but there are doubts over Wayne Bridge and Roque Santa Cruz.

Bowen: Santa Cruz will come good

CITY assistant boss Mark Bowen has called for patience as Roque Santa Cruz finds his feet again at Premier League level.

The Paraguayan had enough class to score his first City goal, and pick up the man of the match award, against Scunthorpe in the Carling Cup last week, but he was clearly struggling at Birmingham on Sunday.

City Suits Sven

With the 'revelation' that Sven has 150 suits, its obvious the press are running out of faults to find with our new manager.

Having hounded him in true England Manager style, it seems the brainless have finally expended their last whimper of discontent at the Former England Manager.

I dont think I've spoken to anyone who actually believed Sven did a bad job for England; anyone that is wth teh power of their own thought.

Of course there are media sponges who will a…

Manchester City Academy and England

How dull. No Manchester City game for 2 weeks.

I know International games are important and I could be commiting high treason, but I hate the International breaks. We never used to have them. Of course players now need more rest and the season is longer and blah blah blah, but has it helped us? I would argue not. England's international performances have not improved as a result.

So why have the break? All that has happened is that two Internationals are now played b…

Will Sven Change it?

Following City's defeat at Arsenal, will Sven make changes? Despite playing five in midfield, we still didn't get a grip of the centre field.

Elano has shown some great touches and vision, but needs time to get used to the Premiership to really make an impact. I'd like to see him play further up front in a supporting role if we are going to play with a lone striker.

Elano needs more support from Ireland and Johnson if we are to see the best of him. It would be easy for Sven…

So Far So Good

Well it wasnt pretty at times, but Johnsons goal was good enough to win any game. Derby did their best to stifle us in the middle of the park, but we invited that by playing Bianchi up front alone.

Derby were tough and strong and held well to their task of frustrating our fresh creativity. Of course referee Steve 'Bent' Bennet did his best to get them a point. His constant whistle blowing and unwarranted bookings of Manchester City players was a disgrace. It was one of those games whe…

Hi Tony,
Excellent website. Saves scanning round all over the place for news on City. Unfortunately won't be at the game tomorrow so will have to tough it out in a London pub with all the plastic cockney Rags.
